The Berkshire Regional Transit Authority (BRTA) will start on December 1, 2025 to be fare free for the Non-ADA and Senior Rural Transportation Programs until June 30, 2026. This expands BRTA’s ability to offer fare free services not only to the Fixed Route and ADA Program but includes these programs as well. Fare free transit service is made possible through funding awarded in MassDOT’s FY25 Supplemental Funding to Regional Transit Authorities in Massachusetts.
BRTA’s Non-ADA Service is for communities outside fixed-route bus line for people with disabilities. BRTA’s Senior Rural Transportation Program is for people age 60+ that live in the following communities: Alford, Becket, Clarksburg, Florida, Hancock, Hinsdale, Monterey, Mount Washington, New Ashford, New Marlborough, Otis, Peru, Richmond, Savoy, Washington, West Stockbridge, and Windsor traveling Monday through Saturday from 7 AM-6 PM. There is an application to be completed prior to receiving this service and rides need to be scheduled 24 hours in advance.
